What is in the Cards for 2015

It is time to look to the future. Whenever you underperform the market you want to review and find out why. I will talk about changes in the portfolio going into 2015. I will share a lesson from a mistake made and also from a success. Finally I will set some goals for the new year for the portfolio and personal goals in my life.

In my YouTube video: 2015 Dividend Investing Strategy... going back to the basics! I look at 3 companies I own and one future prospect.

Changes to the SNB Portfolio

Changes going into the new year:

First a $400 deposit will be added at the first of each month to equal what someone would be able to add to their Roth IRA. Most people are limited to $5500 for a full year contribution limit. In December the deposit will be larger to equal the full year deposit total of $5500. My account is not a Roth but my goal is to meet this number.

Second I will still post comments on StockTwits because I like format and interaction with other investors but I may not put my live transactions exactly on there. This is easier for me but I do enjoy stock twits to help give ideas and receive from others in the community.

Third I have opened a new brokerage account with Interactive Brokers (IB). The minimum to start a account with IB is $5000 for a IRA and $10,000 for individual accounts. I have found IB is better when it comes to commissions. The commissions are only a half cent a share with a minimum of $1, so unless you buy over 200 shares at a time your commissions are a $1 making it better for smaller accounts, there is a $10 monthly charge unless you have $10 in trades it is waived. I do like the speed of the Trader Workstation. The only negative is i'm not sure IB participates in Drip investing so the cash will be put back into the account but for me as an active investor with low commissions its not a negative. The purchases that were made in Sharebuilder will continue to be there until I sell them, at this time the money will be moved to the new account.

What I have learned!
I also want to mention RDS.B the first purchase wasn't the best move in that it was after a substantial rise in the share price. Oil was at highs and almost everything had to go right from that time. It is a lesson on patience before jumping into a position and company one likes.

Success
I have stuck with Buffalo Wild Wings (BWLD) I have had a long term view on this company. If you have a thesis and the company performs well you have to be able to do the research again and be able to stick with it.

New Goals for myself
Moving back to Arizona and adapting from life here in Poland.
Continuing education reading books on the markets and adding to my library.
I am working on becoming a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).

My next blog will be the 6 month Stocksnowball.com Portfolio review and end of the year portfolio results. I will also have some goals for the SNB portfolio I will like to accomplish in 2015.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment and share as it is much appreciated.
