Month 5 Recap of the Stocksnowball Portfolio!! Oil is in the Crosshairs

Welcome to the month 5 update for November 2014. Oil has been on a downward trend and the OPEC meeting didn't help as the group decided to keep production at the status quo. The positions effected in the Stocksnowball portfolio were Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.B) and Nordic American Offshore (NAO). Oil had what you might call capitulation as people were selling no matter the price with huge down day the day after Thanksgiving the first day of trading after the OPEC meeting. My first instinct was to step in and buy on the low but I feel its better to let the dust settle. Since last Friday we have had a small bounce off the lows. If oil continues downward we might not have seen the last of the decline. This is all a cycle until expensive production comes off the market and demand increases due to the lower prices. I don't think dividend coverage for either company will not be a factor in the short term. One company in the services sector that did cut their dividend and it wasn't pretty is Seadrill (SDRL). It was punished with a fall in its stock price of $35 to around the $13-$14 level.
